Protective Humoral Immunity to Influenza Infection

Nicole Baumgarth received a five year grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases division of NIH to study “Protective Humoral Immunity to Influenza Infection”.  Antibody-mediated immunity generated by B lymphocytes is important for immune protection from infections. We are investigating a particular type of B cell response that we show to be induced after infection with influenza virus, but not after vaccination.
