Former Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM) trainees Kim Dodd, DVM, PhD and Brian Bird, DVM, PhD are on the front lines with the CDC in Sierra Leone battling the largest Ebola outbreak since the deadly virus was identified in 1976.  Kim Dodd participated on the federally funded NIH training grant “Year-Long Exposure to Advanced Research (YEAR) Program for Vet Students” (Grant T32 OD010931).   Brian Bird participated on the federally funding NIH training grant “Students Training in Advanced Research” (Grant T35 OD010956).  A number of NIH-funded programs are based in the CCM that provide opportunities for both professional and graduate training.  For more information on Dr. Dodd’s and Dr. Bird’s efforts with the Ebola outbreak please see the Sacramento Bee online article at the following link:  http://www.sacbee.com/2014/09/23/6729825/two-from-uc-davis-working-on-front.html
