Identification of proliferating cells using Ki67

Normal prelactating mammary gland in a mid-pregnant FVB female stained using the immunoperoxidase technique to identify the proliferation marker Ki67. Note that the nuclei of s-phase cells have a dense red-brown cytoplasmic stain. The cytoplasm has a light brown background stain but the signal to noise ratio is quite high. By these criteria, the ducts and alveoli of this gland have a high proliferative rate. (10x) The primary antibody is a polyclonal antibody against Ki 67 protein.
