Human Mouse |
Like the human, the mouse mammary gland originates from the milk bud. The mouse forms five to six pairs of mammary glands that extend from the neck to the groin. At puberty, the mammary ducts extend into the mammary fat pad in an orderly manner. These wholemounts of mouse mammary glands show the structure of the growing gland at 4 through 16 weeks. These images show thoracic (#3) glands.
