The New York Times recently published an article, “A Sweet Treat Is a Clever Trick in Gauging Monkeys’ Health”, which describes how scientist here at UC Davis and within the PREDICT program were able to optimize techniques that had their beginnings here at the CCM and CNPRC while Tierra Smiley Evans was working in Dr. Peter A. Barry’s laboratory. This technique used on apes and macaques in Nepal makes use of ropes hidden in food to collect oral samples for testing.
